This month…

Coming up in April (see details below), we have a special presentation by our own Mario Barbu, a local SME member who will be introducing us to the hot topic of photogrammetry. Don’t worry, I didn’t know exactly what it was either, so I found this description on Wikipedia: “Photogrammetry is the first remote sensing technology ever developed, in which geometric properties about objects are determined from photographic images”. This is actually a very old field, but Mario will be introducing us to the latest technology within it. This promises to be another good tech meeting, so make sure you RSVP per the instructions below. See you there at A&T on April 21st!

Update of recent events…

In March we had an informative tour of WhiteRidge plastics hosted by General Manager Scott McNeil.  Thank you Scott and the team at WhiterRdge for the learning experience! Thanks also go to Norman Lee for setting up the tour for us as a follow-up to his blow molding presentation in February.

A quick note from Scott, he announced at the tour that Whiteridge Plastics has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. So if you’re looking, contact Scott at 336-342-1200 or scott@whiteridge.com . This is another example of the power of networking through SME or other professional societies.

Check out this year’s entire schedule at the end of this newsletter and always on our chapter’s website. Check back each month since there may be changes. Click here: http://chapters.sme.org/082/ . We have some great tours and technical meetings lined up this year and are always looking for suggestions, so let us know how your Chapter can serve you better. What events would you like to attend? Just reply to this email! Do it now! Help us help you!

Best Regards,

Mark Smith
